American abstract expressionist, Kenneth Noland (born April 10, 1924), is one of the most important contemporary American minimalist painters. Noland is best known for his irregular and asymmetrical "shaped" canvases, preoccupation with the relationship of the image to the containing edge of the picture, (bull’s-eye), and "striped" paintings.
